A Lesson to be learned. Been around a while, but always a good reminder.

Please pass this on to any school teacher or administrator you know.

A lesson that should be taught in all schools... and colleges.

Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock , did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom.

When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.

'Ms..Cothren, where're our desks?'

She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.'

They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.'

'No,' she said.

'Maybe it's our behavior.'

She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'

And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom.

By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms.Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.

The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom. Now I am going to tell you.'

At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.

Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned.

Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you.. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.'
In 2006, The Veterans of Foreign Wars named Martha Cothren as their "Teacher of the Year."

By the way, this is a true story .

The Contract Manager (CM) position will be responsible for the management of a large federal government security force contract. The CM will manage and oversee all operational and administrative functions of the contract and serve as a point of contact for the client. realistic enemy and environmental signatures into models and simulations in support of realistic training exercises. Position is located in 29 Palms, CA. Must be willing to travel up to 25% of the

Physical Demands. Work is generally sedentary except during occasional visits to off-site locations where there may be a requirement to hike short distances into training areas. There shall be a requirement to

immerse himself in the Defeat the Device (DtD) training provided by the Marine Corps Engineer Center (MCEC) and the lessons observed from the operating forces pertaining to evolving methods and principles in
defeating the IED as a tactical and strategic weapon of choice. The incumbent will interface with the MCEC, on behalf of MCTOG, to ensure the doctrine, training, and standards developed and promulgated by

Major Duties
1. Provides assistance to management officials on complex employee relation cases with precise interpretation of federal and departmental regulations.
2. Assists managers in the preparation of documents that are consistent with law and regulation.
3. Serves as the technical advisor to the DOL attorney and testifies as an expert witness before the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB).
4. Works closely with supervisors and managers on the performance improvement process, advice for settlement options, and the development of settlement agreements.
5. Provides advice to management on the prevention of potential systemic employee relations issues.
6. Provides training to junior staff members on Employee Relations issues.
7. Demonstrates ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with all levels of DOL management, staff of the Office of the Inspector General, attorneys in the Solicitor, and staff at the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:

GS-9 : One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-7.
GS-11: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-9.
GS-12: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-11.

Specialized experience is working experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the positions to be filled.

For the GS-9: Examples of creditable experience include: identifying, considering, and advising managers and employees about relatively common issues or problems such as routine leave or attendance questions or disputes; researching applicable laws, policy, and agency precedents and applying fact-finding techniques to gather clear-cut information to specific cases; preparing labor agreements on relatively uncomplicated labor-management proposals.

For the GS-11: In addition to the examples under the GS-9, applicants must demonstrate experience explaining policies and approaches to conduct and performance to managers; preparing cases for reasonable accommodations; presenting and defending cases before
third parties.

For the GS-12: In addition to the examples under the GS-9/11, applicants must demonstrate experience advising managers about appropriate disciplinary or other corrective techniques that are responsive to the total range of conduct and performance problems; explaining rules and procedures to employees and help them understand their rights and obligations; maintaining, encouraging and resolving objectivity in situations that may be charged with emotion and involve assumptions; conducting extensive probing and analysis to identify obscure or underlying causes of misconduct or
poor performance.

The Afghan MoI is responsible for nationwide law enforcement.
• Be responsible for overall quality control of the training and testing of each class and assist with any individual tutoring required to maximize the benefit of the training to the student; while teaching ANP instructors the same responsibility
• Development and assessment of Afghan instructor ability: review course material with each Afghan instructor and observe the instructor’s ability to effectively present training. Intent is to develop the ability of the Afghan instructors to present quality training

This position may be required to perform any combination of the following responsibilities: installation, maintenance, generation, distribution or repair of equipment for the plumbing systems, including water and gas distribution, sewage collection, and disposal systems. Aircrew Training Devices Instructor (Pilot), Job Number 1100GB6: This LCT AH-64D Pilot Instructor is responsible for the accomplishment of ground-based, and/or aircrew training devices (ATD) training of pilots.
