The Distribution and Collection Specialist Apprenticeship at Colorado Springs Utilities prepares participants to become journey-level Distribution and Collection Specialists. The program is registered with the Department of Labor (DOL). Apprentices are paid employees who produce high-quality work while they learn skills. The program consists of on-the-job learning which develops skilled workers through structured learning in a work setting. The apprenticeship also provides apprentices with the support of a skilled worker to assist and enhance critical hands-on learning.
The Distribution and Collection Specialist apprenticeship is a 3.5-year, eight-step on-the-job learning and technical instructional program. Each of the 3.5 years’ is separated into "blocks", containing self-study lessons and identifying the required assessments and task performance evaluations (TPEs). The participant progresses through the program by successfully filling the needed blocks and completing the required review processes. Upon successful completion at each Step in the program, you will be given a pay increase according to the Distribution and Collection Specialist Apprentice Pay Schedule.
This apprenticeship requires completion of specific state certifications which requires passing a state proctored exam with a score of 70% or better. In order to take the state exam, you must have a high school diploma or GED. Study material is provided to each apprentice and the following certifications will be obtained during the apprenticeship:
Wastewater Collections I Certification (within year 1)
Wastewater Collection II Certification and Restricted Use Pesticide License (RUP) with Category 113 Metam Sodium (within year 3)
After completion of the program, a nationally – recognized credential will be issued to the apprentice. We are committed to your development and success!
Who You are...Expectations/Requirements:
Typical successful candidate will have at least 2 years of construction experience, we are also seeking candidates with wastewater construction experience related to the operation and maintenance of the collection or distribution systems
A high school diploma or GED is required
Compliance with all construction and maintenance safety regulations and standard operating procedures is required
A valid driver’s license is required for this role
The ability to obtain a CDL Class A license within one year of hire is required
Available to work overtime hours and availability for emergency after-hours callouts for support will be required
Stand-by time (7 days a week) may be expected from each apprentice after about 12 months of training
You are not permitted to apply for other jobs within Colorado Springs Utilities as an apprentice until the apprenticeship has been completed
*This position is part of a formal apprenticeship program within the Distribution and Collection Apprentice trade. As such, pay for this position will begin at $27.33/hour and will progress throughout the duration of the apprenticeship based on the schedule below. Previous Collection and Distribution Apprentice training with documented paperwork, can potentially impact pay and the base pay adjusted. You may expect a pay increase after successfully completing each step of the program (8-step program/6 months on average per step). After successfully completing the Apprenticeship program your turnout rate would be $37.96/hr.

The SCADA/ADMS (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition/Advanced Distribution Management System) team within the Asset Management Innovation and Technology department is hiring a System and Database Specialist. In this position, you will provide system support for our water, gas, and electric utility operations. The work that you do is critical to maintaining the data integrity, reliability, compliance, and security of our SCADA and ADMS/OMS systems. Your technical leadership and curiosity will enable Operations to continuously improve processes, find cost savings, and solve operational challenges through the use and implementation of technology.
The systems you will support in this position are integrated with industrial instrumentation and other integrated software solutions which make up a complex set of hardware and software architectures. This includes, but is not limited to industrial level Systems Integration, Industrial/Operations System Implementations, Operations Technology Systems Administration, and Software Programming of Operations Solutions. You will support ADMS advanced applications including but not limited to Distribution Power Flow (DPF), Fault Location Isolation and Service Restoration (FLISR), and Volt/VAR Control and Optimization (VVC/VVO).
Key Focus Areas:
Planning, designing, programming, documenting, and maintaining the OSI Monarch EMS/SCADA system and OSI Electra ADMS system
Training System Operators, Engineering, and Field Support personnel in the use of applications associated with the EMS/ADMS/SCADA systems to ensure network models are up-to-date and the training simulator is functional

with existing security-related data to identify potential derogatory

?Provide recommendations on appropriate actions regarding individuals
with classified access involved in derogatory incidents, adhering to
relevant regulations.
?Prepare and manage courier authorizations, conduct and document courier
briefings, and oversee foreign travel briefings.
?Maintain classified and sensitive material within the office IAW unit
procedures, DoD Information Security (INFOSEC) standards, and proper
marking and handling protocols.
?Support the inspection of equipment entering or leaving secure areas.
?Assist in classification reviews when required.

Colorado Springs Utilities is looking for a Mechanical Engineer IV to join our Generation Systems Unit within the Operations Engineering Group. In this job, you will provide engineering services for projects of significant size and complexity for the Department related to our coal and combined cycle units. The Engineer IV will perform engineering and project management as related to Boilers, Pulverizers, Fans, HRSGs, High Energy Piping, and other associated equipment.

Maintaining accurate and timely disclosure programs to ensure compliance with bond covenants and municipal market regulations
Preparing and reporting key debt-related financial information to internal and external stakeholders and partners

Lead day-to-day execution of many of our Annual Plan of Finance Projects. Potential examples include:

Colorado Springs Utilities' Industrial Pretreatment (IPT) section is seeking an Environmental Coordinator knowledgeable in compliance programs related to wastewater regulations. Traffic Control/Barricades Support Technician
Colorado Springs Utilities is hiring a Traffic Control/Barricades Support Technician to provide barricade support for our utilities' crews, city departments, fire departments, and police department. In this role, you will set up traffic control device installations and modifications; anticipate and develop countermeasures to reduce crashes; and prepare construction traffic control plans, including detour plans for pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
A day in the life of a Traffic Control/Barricades Support Technician may include:
Managing and operating barricade equipment while utilizing accompanying barricade principles
Reading and interpreting maps and traffic control plans
Using various hand and power tools
Completing all associated safety and training courses and following all safety procedures
Driving vehicles and trucks to transport materials and equipment to and from job sites
Lifting, carrying, loading, and unloading traffic control items, including signs, barricades, pavement marking materials, etc.
Communicating effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public
Who You Are
Relevant experience in a traffic control or barricading capacity
Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license is required
Ability to work without direct supervision, communicate effectively, and respond appropriately to unexpected events
A Traffic Control Technician (TCT) or Traffic Control Supervisor (TCS) Certification accredited through CCA or ATTSA is highly valued, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire
TCT Certification requires a minimum of 2,000 hours (i.e., 1 year) of on-the-job training; TCS certification requires a minimum of 4,000 hours (i.e., 2 years) of on-the-job training
