San Diego, CA, Production Engineering Manager RELOCATION: SOME RELOCATION MAY BE CONSIDERED TRAVEL: 10% POSITION SUMMARY This position will be responsible for all aspects of production work related to marine undersea sensors and ruggedized underwater cable assemblies. Will be required to learn and know every step involved in the production process, from initial component procurement to final assembly and test. Ideally, position requires hands on experience in electrical and mechanical assembly, with the willingness to perform hands on assembly tasks in a shop environment when needed. Job includes the following responsibilities: • Procure all parts associated with sensor/cable construction including electrical parts (circuit boards, cable, wire); mechanical parts (custom machined parts & COTS hardware);electro-mechanical parts (ceramics, connectors, cable);shelf life materials( eposies, silicon, primers & paints) & production related consumbables • Create and Maintain Production Documentation and Records including creating/review of engineering drawings; tracking work order docmentation; maintain test and quality assurance records & implement and improve documentation of production procedures. • Manage Production Schedule and Staffing including performing document inspections of incoming parts/assemblies; perform production related testing (electrical & mechanical); ovesight of all electro-mechanical assembly (wiring, bonding, potting, painting, etc.) & troubleshooting all issues related to design and quality. • Coordinate In-house and Off-site Sensor Calibrations • Support Final Assembly, Packing and Shipment to include packaging and shipment of all testing and assemblyrelated equipment, as required for offsite deliveries & performing final assembly of all sensor related hardware. • Maintain all equipment associated with assembly, potting & testing including hand tools, mold sets, assembly fixtures, evacuation chambers, mixers, potting tanks, CCA test fixtures, test software configurations & electrical test equipment. • Develop production processes improvements and production related design improvements which includes investigation and proposal of ideas to improve yield, reliability, efficiency, reduce cost & accommodate new sensor designs and changes. REQUIREMENTS • 6+ years of relevant work experience • Bachelor's degree in engineering field desired • Experience and skills in one or more of the following, with the desire to learn all related disciplines: mechanical design and assembly, acoustics or analog circuit design & test • 1-5 years of experience in manufacturing of electromechanical assemblies • Ability to quickly adapt manufacturing processes to accommodate changes in design requirements • Familiarity with basic configuration control and manufacturing practices • Familiarity and experience with multiple CAD software packages • Hands on experience in electrical and mechanical assembly, with the willingness to perform assembly tasks in a shop environment. • Willingness to travel 1-2 times per year • Active US Secret clearance, required • Average physical mobility to move around an office or plant environment, and the ability to lift 50 lbs.
