The manager in this role is responsible for the operation of the North Chicago Utility Plant, the North Chicago Waste Treatment Plant, and various utility operations at AbbVie Park in support of AbbVie Manufacturing Operations, AbbVie Commercial Operations and AbbVie R&D. The primary function of this position is to provide the leadership and vision necessary to achieve the goals associated with the department objectives described below. As the operation of every AbbVie function located at the NC and AP Sites is dependent on uninterrupted utility service, the primary goal is to achieve 100% reliable operation while meeting all established quality, safety and environmental standards. To meet these objectives, the Lake County Utilities Operations Manager must interact with individuals from all levels and disciplines within the corporation on issues including operations, product quality, EH&S and financial planning. Other issues of significance addressed by this individual on a frequent basis include (but are not limited to); site expansion, regulatory requirements and inspections (FDA, EPA, NSSD, OSHA, etc ), equipment reliability, capital planning and nonexempt workforce issues.
Major Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the development and management of approximately an $80MM Operating Expense and $2-5MM Capital budget to support utility and waste treatment operations across Lake County.

The principal goal of this position is to assure the operation of utility equipment and systems in a reliable, safe and economical manner while meeting all applicable regulatory requirements. Manufacture and distribution of utilities for customers with such diverse requirements (facility support, research experimentation and manufacturing product components) presents very unique problems that challenge this organization to identify and implement creative solutions.
