Due to an increasing workload, Roush is looking for a skilled Automotive Test Technician to join our team, working directly at a customer site performing testing for refrigerant and air-handling subsystems. The Automotive Test Technician will be responsible for: fabrication of test set-up including electrical connections, subsystem bench airflow testing and reporting, and assisting engineering with design-of-engineering testing. The technician will also be responsible for inspecting all work performed to ensure that all required tasks have been completed properly prior to final leader inspection while remaining within the timing guidelines set forth by the requester. The Automotive Test Technician opening is located in Romeo, MI. This is a day shift: 7:30am – 4:00pm. Qualifications: • Minimum Associate’s degree in Engineering or Automotive Technology – or related experience. • Minimum two years of automotive technician experience or equivalent military experience. • Minimum one year of automotive instrumentation experience working with pressure transducers, thermocouples and flow meters. • Ability to perform soldering, crimping, tube bending, component layout and packaging on vehicles or subsystems. • Experience performing bench or vehicle-level testing and development. • Must possess working knowledge of basic powertrain cooling subsystems (specifically heater circuit). • Must have working knowledge of basic automotive HVAC air handling and refrigerant subsystems (air conditioning and heating). • Basic experience with fabrication of test set-up fixtures. • Must have own tools. • Ability to follow work procedures/instructions provided for assigned projects, such as work requests, shop procedures and/or shop manuals, publications or schematic diagrams. • Ability to manage multiple assignments/projects at once with minimal supervision. • Ability to perform effectively in a team atmosphere and learn new tasks. • Must have reliable attendance and be able to work off shifts, weekends, and overtime when needed. • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated and willing to learn. • Must have valid driver’s license and excellent driving record. • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Excel and Word. • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with good attention to detail. • MACS/ASE certifications 609 refrigerant handling.
