This excellent position will enable the selected candidate to work as part of a highly skilled team while eventually serving our customers in an autonomous capacity. The selected candidate will perform locating activities on public service utilities for residential and commercial customers and includes extensive in-person customer interaction thus requiring excellent communication, conflict management, and customer service skills.
This role sometimes will require working overtime, weekends, holidays, and 24-hour call-outs as business needs demand. In addition, there will be times you will work in challenging conditions, respond to emergencies, and are subject to working in all types of weather conditions. The selected candidate will be required to live in the Colorado Springs Utilities service territory or be able to move into the service territory within five (5) months of the hire date.
Why should you apply In this role, you will be responsible for locating Colorado Springs Utilities-owned and operated underground infrastructure, meeting with contractors and homeowners to assess locating needs and interacting with customers to provide information regarding the type, location, and composition of utilities in the area. In addition, you will prepare drawings with the excavation area, utility line location, and hazards. Maintain locating equipment, stock levels, and vehicles, update construction print files, and inspect damaged or severed utilities to determine the extent of damage and liability. You will also be required to drive a company vehicle to customer locations.
Who You Are: Most people in this occupation will have completed a High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.) and have up to two (2) years of experience operating utility locating equipment, the ideal candidate will have previous utility locating experience and knowledge of gas, water, electric, and wastewater system principles. Strong customer service skills are a must.

During the summer of 2023, interns will be expected to work full-time, 40 hours/week. During the school year, interns will work part-time with the expectation of a minimum of 10 hours/week and up to 20 hours/week at each intern’s discretion based on academic workload.

Support operations and maintenance activities
Gather data and prepare technical reports, charts, and graphs, and apply engineering principles in the reporting and solution of engineering problems
Maintain records of activities and prepare reports on tests, research projects, and operational characteristics of machinery and equipment and their impact on plant performance
Review system drawings to identify discrepancies; update drawings to correct discrepancies
Assist with conducting studies and preparing reports

At Colorado Springs Utilities, most of the civil design for our transmission and distribution substations is completed in-house. The team is responsible for all designs associated with 12.5kV through 230kV substations and transmission. The work is unique in that the civil engineers often share project management responsibilities, and thus participate through all project phases. This provides a great opportunity for an civil engineering student to strengthen their knowledge regarding civil engineering as well as project management and field support.
An internship in Substation and Transmission Engineering offers the following learning opportunities:
Develop physical designs for new substations and expansion of existing substations including site grading, drainage and erosion control, access roads, and fences
Perform structural design and analysis of anchorages, steel structures, connections, concrete foundations, and spill containments using industry codes and standards, ensuring adherence to environmental and safety requirements
Work with Project Managers, Electrical Engineers, Designers, and other Civil/Structural team members to confirm all project requirements are addressed
Develop project schedules, and ensure all tasks are completed on time to support project delivery and completion
Visit project sites and work with field teams to develop solutions and corresponding designs
Work with internal and external sources to get designs fabricated, reserve or procure materials and deliver to the sites
Prepare, administer and review contracts and specifications to ensure compliance with engineering and material standards
Evaluate and monitor outside consultants, contractors and vendors to ensure compliance with specifications, bid proposals, and obligations
Perform structural engineering quality reviews of peers and / or consultants
Provide quantity estimation for bid preparation for substation and transmission facilities
In this role, the engineering intern will provide support to substation civil design engineers through any of the responsibilities mentioned above, with completed substation safety trainings prior to visiting substation sites. Additionally, you may have opportunities to also shadow and/or assist maintenance and electrical design engineers as well.
This internship position will require 40 hours/week from May through August (if possible). Additionally, it may be possible for the internship to extend beyond the summer and through the 2023/2024 school year, with more limited hours; a maximum of 20 hours per week. The position can be designed to support a student’s school schedule.
A valid, unrestricted driver's license is required for this role.

In this role, you will be a part of the Meter Shop Module team. Your primary responsibilities will be equipment management of Electric meters and Gas and Water modules by preparing new and old equipment as well as life cycle management. Other duties include field-tool troubleshooting, meter/module monitoring, equipment failure documentation, and testing.
Key Areas of Focus:
Provide backup support to AMT asset management positions and will have the flexibility and diversity to step in and support field operations in Service Delivery, Customer Response, and Collection with data needs
Submit measurement equipment failure analysis reports with critical documentation
Testing of all Gas and Water modules needed for maintaining the AMR system through the deployment

Our Fuels and Purchase Power group is seeking a Senior Real-Time Energy Trader to provide an efficient and reliable electric resource stack (owned-generation, contracts, and market transactions) along with marketing excess capacity to other utilities and marketers. In this role, you will forecast loads, renewable generation, and manage fuel supply for a diverse generation fleet while communicating with forward power trading, natural gas, coal, and transmission system operator desks. ETS is seeking an Information Technology (IT) Representative to support
the Army National Guard.
This role is responsible for managing every JWICS IT aspect of Sensitive
Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) throughout the ARNG
purview. For designated ARNG sites within their region, they will:
* Facilitate the procurement activities of all ARNG site's JWICS IT
related equipment.

unlocks, pw resets, adding/removing workstations from the domain.

related hardware (routers and switches). This includes the tracking
of all related documentation, network diagrams. Ensures each network
classification at ARNG sites within designated region is operational

* Manage, coordinate, and document all administrative VTCs
installation and/or repair functions for all ARNG sites with 98%
accuracy rating.
* Assist in the review of ARNG G6 procured circuit activity using

* Review and submit ARNG G6 Circuit Provisioning (ordering) request
