To attend they must have previously completed either a Hire Heroes USA transition workshop or another employment preparation program. All will be prepared with resumes.

WHAT: Career Opportunity Days are non-traditional career fairs. Employers are connected with approximately 7-10 troops based on a mutual interest and conduct mock interviews providing attendees a chance to interact with employers in a new way. This interaction also gives the employer a unique opportunity to get to know the prospective candidates. We match attendees with employers based on their military specialty, previous experience, and geographic interest for relocation. Employers are given interviewees resumes in advance, except for in cases when troops do not pre-register.

WHY: This format provides the employer and the service member an opportunity to interact one-on-one. Some of these prospective candidates have post-traumatic stress or traumatic brain injury. Both of these conditions can create anxiety—which is why we keep Career Opportunity Days intimate, with up to 25 employers and 100 wounded, ill or injured, spouses and caregivers.
