About the District: The Pikes Peak District is located in the Pike National Forest, and is situated at the base of Pikes Peak otherwise known as “America’s Mountain.” The Pikes Peak District manages a total of about 250,000 acres, and intersects three counties- El Paso, Teller, and Douglas. The district is managed for multiple resources use including range, minerals, wildlife, water, fire, developed and dispersed recreation. The employees have a diverse range of skills and talents which result in a highly productive and enabled work force. The Pikes Peak Ranger District office is located in Colorado Springs but has suppression resources stationed in the towns of Woodland Park and Monument. The Monument Fire Center is home to the Pike Hotshots and Monument Helitack Crew. The Woodland Park Work Center consists of a Type 3 and a Type 6 engine, an Initial Attack Module (MOD), and a recreation crew. The District has an active fire program.
