A solid manager with A/E experience as opposed to E/A experience. A person that can work across teams and get everyone pulling in the same direction.

C. Ability to plan the work, then work the plan.
D. Will have experience with client interaction. Can meet with the clients and will come back with a positive outcome.
E. Will have experience with managing project budgets

F. What type of projects is the department currently working on and what role will this person take in relation to these projects?
Good solid projects, not huge, not small. Work includes embassies, work with Dept of State, and others.
Overall, projects that make a difference that a person can be proud of.
Currently 6-7 on each of the 2 teams, this may grow 20% each.

G. Could you please provide me with questions, that a qualified candidate should be able to answer?

1. When a new project comes in, describe your approach and what you do in the first 2 weeks to get things ready to go.

2. What is your experience with BIM? How have you used it, and how has it affected how you manage a project

3. Describe your experiences in dealing with Federal clients and compare/contrast that with non-Federal clients

Job ID-70816BR
28. Maritime Security Guard (At Sea)

The Duties
The position is as an independent contractor for a private US based security company. The cruises are 9-20 day trips (based on the freighter assigned) with 1 to 5 days between trips (you remain in country at a hotel at the security company’s expense, you will only be responsible for your food when not on ship). If selected, the company will provide all needed equipment, uniforms, and transportation.

Compensation
The position will be as a contractor. Pay will be between 300 and 350 per day while at sea and 150 per diem per day while not at sea or in port. The security company selects the 300 or 350 based on your experience, not us. You are paid after the cruise when you invoice the security company. There are currently no benefits (i.e. medical, dental, etc.) with this position as you are an independent contractor.

Career Path
The company does have multiple ships they provide security for, and they make every effort to keep you rotating out; however, that is based on your performance and the needs of the company. There are no assurances for continued deployments.

Physical/Mental Demands
The position will require you to maintain a guard post for at least 12 hours per day. You will be responsible for clearing the ship in the instance of an attack or attempted attack, requiring climbing ladderwells and passing through narrow corridors, maneuvering from one end of the ship to another in response to threats, and carrying out other tasks such as carrying injured personnel or hand to hand combat. The position requires quick decision making skills to be able to identify a threat and the best method of engagement utilizing Escalation of Force guidelines and Rules Of Engagement provided by the security company.

Requirements
To be eligible you must have, and provide, a copy of a valid passport, the updated resume, the statement, and your D-214 showing honorable military service. The security company prefers Infantry or Military Police backgrounds with at least one combat deployment. Though not a requirement, combat veterans will be given preference.

Process
If you want to apply for the position, I need the updated resume, a color copy of your passport, your statement, and DD-214. The purpose for the passport copy is to determine deployment eligibility and expedite processing for a visa if selected. Based on your availability, you can be assigned a ship and/or placed on standby to fill in on other ships. If you say you are available for a certain period, if called and you do not go, you will likely not be called for future openings.

Notes
I have been in the job market too, and I understand the frustrations of waiting. Most of the hires here happen quickly after you have been left waiting for a while. The key is to be ready when the call comes. If you are available for immediate deployment, you need to be prepared to leave immediately. Some of the calls have been at 2200 with a flight leaving in less than 12 hours.

Additional Qualifications
If you have a TWIC card, you can have an increased opportunity for additional vessels. If you do have a TWIC, send a copy of that as well. This is in addition to the passport. Security clearances increase your selection rates as well. If you have verification of your clearance send that, if you have a clearance but no verification, we can check your status, just ensure to note that in your email.

The security company can take up to two weeks to review your resume and identify candidates they are interested in using. We will of course take your calls to explain the position; however, the above explanation is what we know.
