10. We are looking to recruit pediatric-trained Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists to work in the natural environment in the Lake County area with children (age birth to three) with developmental delay. The therapist must have an IL license as well as an IL Early Intervention credential in order to sign a contract with the IL Dept of Human Services, Bureau of Early Intervention. The credentialing process is through Provider Connections and takes approximately 2-3 months to complete the paperwork, background checks and be enrolled as a DHS provider. I would be happy to review the credentialing process with recruits after they have reviewed the website at www.wiu.edu/providerconnections.

LaDonna mentioned that most military personnel are stationed in one location for about three years. This time frame would work well for their spouses choosing to work in the Early Intervention (EI) system.

One of the benefits of working as a pediatric therapist in EI is the ability to work either for an agency that does all the billing for services, or opening one's own business and setting one's own schedule to work with families. Either way, the therapists work with a family in the natural environment to support the family in their child's development.

Early Intervention for children ages birth to three is a federal mandate and is in every state. Once a spouse is relocated to another state, the therapist may re-credential and enroll in that state's Early Intervention program. It is a very nice employment option for spouses of military personnel.

Thank you ahead of time for sharing this unique employment opportunity with individuals looking for employment.
