Human Resources Specialist YA-0201-02
http://jobsearch.usajobs.opm.gov/getjob.asp?JobID=88388408&TabNum=6.

If you are applying for a Schedule A position, you must include a Schedule A letter.

Please read the announcement carefully and follow the prompts; pay close attention to addressing any specialized skills or qualifications listed in the announcement. Please remember to provide as much specific detail about your experience as possible, as this will be invaluable to hiring managers in accurately matching your knowledge, skills, and abilities to those required for this position. These are critical steps.

The following are some "tips" for filling out a federal job application.

• It is all in the details. A federal resume differs from a civilian private sector resume in that it contains more details. DO NOT use short bullets when describing your experience.
• Follow all application instructions in the announcement exactly as prescribed. If you fail to do so you put your application at risk of non-consideration.
• Read and reread the entire job announcement. Pay particular attention to words that talk about specific/specialized experience they are seeking for the position. Make sure your resume addresses each Knowledge, Skill and Ability (KSAs) when you describe your experience and qualifications.
• Focus on the "requirements," "skills," or "qualifications" sections of job ads, and look for "buzzwords" and desirable credentials for your ideal job. In the qualifications section you will see descriptors that give you comprehensive information about the type of experience needed for the position. As you describe your qualifications and experience note the content of this section and talk to your experience and describe your experience and background in these terms.
• How you will be evaluated. Carefully read the section that describes how candidates will be evaluated and ensure that you address the criteria described. The HR specialist reviewing your resume cannot extrapolate on the content and/or make any assumptions. To give you full credit you must spell out your experience, knowledge and skills clearly in terms of the language used in the announcement.
• Be descriptive. Experience descriptions should be simple and straightforward, and reduced to only essential information. Describe what you did on the job that relates to the position you are applying for. Think about: relevant projects you have worked on; what your related duties were; what you needed to know to do your current or previous jobs, that will be required for the job you are applying for; what tools, software, or equipment you used; and what you accomplished that may be pertinent to the position you are applying for.
• Pay attention to key words.
• Don't be vague. Emphasize nouns and verbs and provide concrete statements of your accomplishments in the correct tense for past or present positions.
• Use action words, modifiers and phrases such as designed; implemented; negotiated; delivered; directed; etc.
• Use numbers to highlight your accomplishments. For example, "Wrote 25 news releases in a three-week period under daily deadlines". Show amount of output; period of performance; and time criticality.
• List certifications and licenses.
• Don't be repetitive.
• Use plain English. Describe skills and experience in universally accepted terms common to your occupation and profession that could be readily understood in both the public and private sectors. Minimize the use of acronyms. If you must use them, spell them out at least once and explain.
• Highlight your Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA) certification, if applicable.
• Don't forget to Spell Check.
