3. West Coast Military Hiring Conference, San Diego 16-17 June

I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know about our

upcoming West Coast Military Hiring Conference in San Diego on 16-17

June. As with our other conferences, this will not be a “Job Fair”

where people just walk around and pass out their resumes. Rather it is

a uniquely structured event where transitioning personnel will

actually interview with companies that are interested in their

backgrounds and experience from the military. As I’ve mentioned

before, in today’s extremely tough job market, the benefits of

having the opportunity to actually interview with companies cannot be

overstated. If you know of any experienced technicians, leaders, or

logisticians who would like to take advantage of this unparalleled

opportunity to jump start their career search, just have them get in

touch with me at 800-282-0360 ext 140 or at

5. The U.S. and Los Angeles Chambers of Commerce will be co-hosting a premier hiring fair at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, California on Sunday, July 10, 2011 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. Hiring our Heroes Los Angeles will undoubtedly be the biggest and best of the 100 hiring fairs that we have committed to hold across the country through March of 2012.

We are pulling out all the stops in Los Angeles to make a difference in the state of California, which has the highest population of unemployed veterans in America with over 100,000 of our nation's heroes looking for jobs.

Please instruct the veterans to pre-register on-line at:

http://www.regonline.com/HiringHeroesinLA

We are working closely with Department of Labor Veterans Employment and Training and Service (DOL VETS), Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), United Way, and Military Spouse Employment Partnership

(MSEP) to ensure this is a premier event for the 200 employers and 1500 veterans and military spouses expected to attend. On the heels of the First Lady's Joining Forces announcement in April and the MSEP signing ceremony hosted by the Department of Defense and the U.S. Chamber in June, Hiring our Heroes Los Angeles will affirm the Chamber's commitment to include military spouses in all 100 of our veterans' hiring fairs.

To make this hiring fair even more impactful and memorable for military families Hiring our Heroes Los Angeles will be part of a larger event being organized by ServiceNation: Mission Serve to bring together military and civilian communities. Other activities will include a service project that will benefit the children of deployed service members.

Participating employers should have job opportunities available and will be expected to report the following metrics to the U.S. Chamber after the hiring fair: number of applications received; number of veterans and military spouses offered jobs; and most importantly, the number of veterans and spouses hired by your company.

Companies that are interested in sponsorship opportunities for the full program of events in Los Angeles should contact Ross Cohen at rcohen@bethechangeinc.org or 323-683-4005.

In the coming year, the U.S. Chamber will host 100 hiring fairs with local chambers of commerce across the country with the only measure of success being jobs for the one million unemployed veterans in America.

If you are interested in being a national or regional sponsor of Hiring our Heroes, please contact me at HiringourHeroes@uschamber.com for more information.

Thanks, in advance, for any interest you may have in pursuing these opportunities.

38. We have an urgent need for several (up to 5) temporary laborer positions. We would like to fill the positions as quickly as possible and they would likely end at the end of September, but could be extended into October depending on funds and work load. They are duty stationed at Elk Creek, about 16 miles west of Gunnison. The laborer positions perform trail work and/or general maintenance work. They are WG-3502-03 positions and pay $11.93 per hour. We have a couple of spaces available in the male dorm and several in the female dorm. The dorm rate is $65.90 per pay period. We also have a trailer space to rent if an individual has his/her own trailer. That rate would be $128.08 per pay period.

I wish we had something longer term to offer, but this is all we have right now.

If anyone is interested in working here for the summer, please have them send a resume, their DD-214, and acceptable documentation of appointment eligibility.

Please give me a call if you need more information or if you have any questions.

Thanks!
