POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The SPARTA Centreville Office is seeking experienced software engineers who are highly motivated to participate in the design, development, integration, and testing of complex embedded software systems. Work will be performed in a classified environment and will involve some direct interaction with customers and other contractors. Candidates should have an understanding of the phases and work products of the Software Development Life Cycle. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Required Skills:

2. SATCOM Engineer - FNS| FNS | Reston, VA, US
Works under the guidance of a Satellite Systems Team Leader (SS/TL) and has direct operation and maintenance (O&M) responsibilities for entry satellite systems and indirect O&M responsibility for all field systems. This position will be required to prepare necessary documentation and reports for the planning of new system and equipment installations. Some engineering design and configuration will also be required. Aid to network planning and engineering configuration will be required.
Documentation and report requirements include original engineering statements of work and formal proposals. This position will also maintain a current trouble log on all satellite-related circuit failures. Preparation of formal and informal correspondence with direct customers and other centers and components is another important aspect of this position. During installations, this person will follow prescribed safety procedures and adhere strictly to documented installation practices and standards. The position will also be expected to accept after hour duty responsibilities on a rotating basis, shared with their peers.
Qualifications: Experience in Operation and Maintenance of various satellite system entry terminals.

Knowledge of the EF Data modem protection switches and ancillary support equipment.

Education:

All academic degrees and coursework must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.

You will serve in the Superintendent's Office, Emergency Management Institute, National Training and Education, National Preparedness Directorate, Protection and National Preparedness, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In this position, you will support emergency management training programs to equip Federal, State, local, and tribal organizations in preparing for, protecting against, responding to, recovering from, and mitigating all hazards.
PROMOTION POTENTIAL: Future promotions will be dependent on your ability to perform the duties at a higher level, the continuing need for an employee assigned to the higher level, and administrative approval.
EMERGENCY ASSIGNMENT: FEMA employees are subject to 24 hour on-call in the event of any emergency. This service may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites that require functioning under intense physical and mental stress.

Specific Duties:
In this position, you will:
• Provide technical and audiovisual (AV) support in EMI classroom booths, during the entire delivery of course which may include early morning, evening, weekend, or holiday staff if EMI courses are in session.
• Periodically check all EMI classrooms, breakout rooms, and conference rooms while classes or focus groups are in session and respond to any AV or technical difficulties encountered in the rooms.
• Unlock all classroom/breakout room doors each morning and secure classrooms each evening.
• Set up and maintain AV equipment, telephones, fax machines, televisions, SMART Boards, Crestrons, and any other equipment used during EMI course deliveries.

Qualifications and Evaluations
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To qualify for this position at the GS-07 level you must possess at least one full year of specialized experience. Specialized experience is described as experience assisting in the set up and maintenance of televisions, SMART Boards, Crestrons, telephones, and audiovisual equipment in a classroom environment.
Time-in-Grade Requirements: Status applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade in the Federal service. To be creditable, one (1) year is required at the GS-05 level for the GS-07.

Specific Duties:
• Develops plans, procedures and checklists to insure the operational readiness of mission equipment and personnel.

• Provides technical input to engineers, technicians, specialist and other personnel at meetings and/or conferences.

• Evaluates system performance against mission requirements and recommends equipment acquisitions, modifications and configuration changes.

• Prepares, reviews, refines, coordinates and translates requirements into language that can be used in the contracting and acquisition process.

• Performs monitoring, testing, alignment and fault isolation of voice, data and video telecommunications circuits, systems and equipment, using state of the art test and diagnostic equipment. Performs equipment repair to the lowest replaceable unit.

18. Special Security Officer (Afghanistan)

Reports to: Program Manager


Responsibilities:
The Special Security Officer (SSO) shall provide support to the management of personnel security records and administrative support. The individual shall be responsible for performing the following tasks: accountability of personnel security dossiers, ensuring the integrity of data entries made to those dossiers and related databases, reviewing security forms packages to ensure the scope of information requested in the instructions is met, identifying incomplete and/or missing data and contacting applicants to obtain the missing data/corrections and/or required signature. The SSO may be required to initiate or assist with emergency safety and evacuation procedures of personnel from situations of imminent threat and the application of emergency medical care to government personnel and designees involved in trauma situations. The SSO will be responsible for sorting incoming documents and reports, merging material with existing files, creating, maintaining and tracking suspense action files, creating and maintaining active, archived and pending physical and electronic folders and files, creating and maintaining both electronic and paper records and performing routine data transfers, reproducing documents and transferring media for storage, entering data into the Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) and DIA internal databases pertaining to personnel security clearances/accesses, internal workflow and/or archived information, maintaining permanent scanned document files, purging and destroying documents as directed, searching, retrieving, distribution files, folders, dossiers and documents request from within and without the branch, and annotate appropriate records and databases upon receiving clearance data from a government security staff member within two working days of receipt. The SSO shall make issue and control Department of Defense (DOD), Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), and Intelligence Community (IC) identification cards and security/access control badges, including DIA security badges, IC badges, courier badges, and Common Access Cards (CAC). The SSO shall provide customers with required badge application forms and verifying applications are properly completed and signed by appropriate authorities, verify individual’s identity matches the information on the application form and entering personnel data from the forms into the appropriate database, utilizing the badge equipment to create the appropriately authorized badge, encoding the badge with appropriate authorize access privileges, and obtaining the individual’s signature. The SSO shall perform office reception functions including entry and circulation control functions, answering telephones, and referring customers to affected personnel. The SSO shall respond to direct queries for information, prepare, edit, format, and finalize out-going correspondence, maintain accurate inventory and control and ordering of all badge stock, forms and supplies. The SSO will collect, compile, prepare and distribute branch daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual metric and productivity reports. The SSO shall conduct Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) indoctrinations/briefings and annotate in appropriate databases, in-putt accesses, visitor requests, permanent clearance certifications, and transfers-in-status throughout the IC based upon DIA guidance and oversight, and maintain access accountability database. The SSO will administer the security violation program, including the receiving and processing of incident reports, conduction appropriate follow-ups, tasking inquires, and reviewing classifications and damage assessments reports as required. The SSO will conduct initial review of unofficial foreign travel requests, obtain security dossiers, check appropriate databases, and respond to requestor and maintain foreign contact database. The SSO will coordinate and validate with other federal agencies polygraph examination information, enter data into JPAS and internal DIA databases pertaining to personnel security clearances/accesses, internal workflow, and/or archived information. The incumbent shall prepare and maintain schedules in accordance with contract requirements. Shifts other than 8 hours in duration must be approved in advance by the COR. All work schedules must be approved in advance by the SM. In other than an emergency situation, no incumbent will be scheduled to be on duty for more than twelve (12) continuous hours in a twenty four (24) hour period. The minimum time off between scheduled duties will be 12 hours. The incumbent shall ensure that appropriate breaks, e.g., meal breaks, are scheduled during all shifts.

Salary Range: Negotiable

Special Requirements: Must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years of age. Must possess a Top Secret SCI security clearance and SCI access eligibility in accordance with Intelligence Community Directive 704.

There is no specific one job description as these interns will work in various departments to receive various types of training over the next 12 months.
