Typical Responsibilities • Ensure compliance with design standards and budgetary constraints • Participate in the coordination, inspection, and expenditure monitoring of construction or remodeling projects • Ensure contractor compliance with project drawings, plans, specifications, standards, and contractual obligations; inspect assigned projects during various stages of plans completion • Review preliminary designs; determine work and material requirements; prepare preliminary cost estimates, materials, and specifications; and recommend alternative methods • Review and approve progress payments; ensure that projects are completed within budgetary constraints • Review technical plans, documents, and specifications for compliance to codes and standards • Ensure that plan specifications, work place safety guidelines, and aesthetic standards are followed • Evaluate soil and irrigation issues on landscape projects; analyze and resolve grading, drainage, and soil erosion impact on projects; and coordinate resolution with internal and external project participants • Participate in contractor or professional service contracts; review bid specification and cost estimates; and review submissions for compliance with specifications, construction requirements, cost estimates, and related issues • Inspect completed projects, ensure compliance with designs and specifications, and recommend project acceptance • Monitor and review project progress; take photographs to document project progress and construction operations • Maintain a variety of files and records on projects; prepare correspondence and reports; and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly construction and inspection reports • Participate in meetings Examples of Job Competencies Knowledge of: • Methods and techniques of construction projects • Principles and practices of landscape architecture • Pertinent construction and building codes • Scheduling construction projects and evaluating construction claims Ability to: • Coordinate project construction and inspection operations • Evaluate and analyze site conditions • Interpret, explain, and apply pertinent laws, rules, and regulations • Safely operate assigned vehicle • Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing • Establish and maintain effective working relationships This position, which is located in Cascade, CO, requires the ability to work at an altitude of 14,115 feet in extreme weather conditions; sit, stand, or walk for extended periods; stoop and bend frequently; and lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday with occasional weekends and overtime on short notice. You will be responsible for your own transportation to and from the workplace; there is not shuttle bus transportation for employees up the mountain. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. Three years of full-time construction project coordination experience. Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license. Possess, or obtain within three months of hire, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and First Aid certifications. Pass a post-offer physical. Preferred Qualifications Two years of supervisory experience. Experience working with PeopleSoft, Cartegraph, and Microsoft Office Suite. Colorado Class B CDL with air brake and tanker endorsements. Pikes Peak Regional Building Department Class B Commercial Building License. Colorado Department of Transportation Department Construction Inspector certification.
