QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
IMPORTANT: Your resume must detail your experience and must include the following for each job listed: job title, duties, month & year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. Credit for experience CANNOT be given without all of this information.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: To qualify for the 801 series, ALL applicants must have one of the following:
A. A degree in professional engineering. To be acceptable, the curriculum must: (1) be in a school of engineering with at least one curriculum accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) as a professional engineering curriculum; or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. ~OR~
B. Combination of education and experience -- college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished (1) a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying professional engineering, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the engineering sciences and techniques and their applications to one of the branches of engineering.
The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by one of the following:
• Professional registration -- Current registration as a professional engineer by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Absent other means of qualifying under this standard, those applicants who achieved such registration by means other than written test (e.g., State grandfather or eminence provisions) are eligible only for positions that are within or closely related to the specialty field of their registration. For example, an applicant who attains registration through a State Boards eminence provision as a manufacturing engineer typically would be rated eligible only for manufacturing engineering positions. (Copy of current registration required)
• Written Test -- Evidence of having successfully passed the Engineer-in-Training (EIT) examination, or the written test required for professional registration, which is administered by the Boards of Engineering Examiners in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico. Because of the diversity in kind and quality of BET programs, graduates of other BET programs are required to complete at least 1 year of additional education or highly technical work experience of such nature as to provide reasonable assurance of the possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for professional engineering competence. The adequacy of this background must be demonstrated by passing the EIT examination. (Documentation required)
• Specified academic courses -- Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements. The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of a professional engineering curriculum as described in paragraph A above. (Copy of official or unofficial transcripts required)
• Related curriculum -- Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in engineering technology or in an appropriate professional field, e.g., physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least 1 year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions. (The above examples of related curricula are not all-inclusive.) (Documentation required)
IMPORTANT: In order to receive consideration, you must submit a copy of unofficial transcripts and/or other documentation with your application in order for a determination to be made as to meeting the basic requirement.
~AND~
In addition to the Basic Requirement, you must meet the following minimum requirements for the GS-11 grade level:
• You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the federal service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of a General Engineer. The professional engineering experience required is defined as non-routine engineering work that required and was characterized by (1) professional knowledge of engineering; (2) professional ability to apply such knowledge to engineering problems; and (3) positive and continuing development of professional knowledge and ability. Examples of specialized experience include: planning and designing, completing and carrying out renovation projects in a complex environment, preparing cost estimates for projects in the planning stage, ensuring compliance with contracts and regulatory requirements, assisting in bids and bid evaluation, conducting inspections, preparing reports and recommending payments, and managing renovation or new construction projects. NOTE: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. ~OR~
• Successful completion of three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. in engineering or equivalent doctoral degree. Note: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. ~OR~
• A combination of successfully completed graduate level education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience may be used to meet total experience requirements. Note: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation.
You will be rated on the following Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other characteristics (KSAOs) as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position:

37. installers and field technicians across the country (mainly California, the Southwest, and Southeast)
AT&T is in the early stages of a multi-year effort to retool our network. As
a result, we have a present, and ongoing need - we have THOUSANDS of
positions we are looking to fill in a particular
role.
You may or may not heard of our recent commitment to hire 5000 veterans
http://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=24131&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=36375
over the next five years. That plays into this somewhat.
The bottom line is that as a result of Project VI
Phttp://www.att.com/gen/press-room?pid=23506&cdvn=news&newsarticleid=35661 ,
we have an unprecedented need for installers and field technicians across
the country (mainly California, the Southwest, and Southeast. It's a
critical part of AT&T's near and long term strategy.
We've found that there is a real strong fit for veterans in this role,
particularly for junior NCOs and enlisted members who do not yet have a
degree. MOS is not a real factor. In fact, 60% of our veteran hires in 2012
opted for this role, and more importantly, the majority of our military
hires stay (92% as opposed to 87% of the general population).
Please apply. http://connect.att.jobs/careers/technician-jobs. The
specific titles with the greatest opportunity are Premises Technician, Wire
Technician, and Outside Plant Technician. A good overview of the job is at
http://www.maddash.net/videos/att/premtech/ . Right now, our highest areas
of need are in the southeast and southwest, as well as many in California
and other states around the country.
Please share this information
http://connect.att.jobs/careers/technician-jobs
The secret sauce is to submit the application, and when they hit the step in
the process where they take an aptitude exam, to take it seriously. It's not
hard, in many respects an "ASVAB light", but is an important step in the
process.
In a broader sense, we also have many, many other jobs available and a
downloadable flyer that details some of them :
