US) THE JOB: The Vice President of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) reports directly to the executive leadership and is responsible for the development and management of the company’s EHS Program. The company’s EHS Program is the single element within our corporate structure responsible for ensuring a standardized approach to the implementation of occupational and environmental, safety and health policies, processes, and procedures at offices and project sites across all business units and throughout all operating regions. You will manage a team of over 20 safety directors and managers and serve as an integral member of our senior leadership team, as you set the short and long-term strategic direction for the company’s EHS Program. Along with having responsibility for ensuring the company is compliant with all federal, state, and local safety regulations, you will represent The company as an industry leader in your field, strengthening our commitment to revolutionize construction by promoting an unparalleled safety culture at The company. The role is hands-on and can be based anywhere in the continental United States, with up to 50% travel within North America. RESPONSIBILITIES: Work closely with the company’s senior leadership and the EHS team to ensure the company’s EHS Program is successfully implemented at all offices and project sites across the country. Development and ownership of budget for corporate safety department. Evaluate The company’s EHS Program, issue recommendations for improvement, and drive continuous improvement of safety practices across the enterprise. Mentor and train employees across the organization, including guidance to sectors/lines of business on handling compliance, inspections, and citations. Manage, track and report safety metrics regularly and effectively communicate safety statistics directly to leadership, including corporate and site-specific safety KPIs, to allow for data-driven decision-making. Drive cost savings by reducing overall LTIs and worker’s compensation claims. Integrate department initiatives with company-wide strategic objectives and collaborate with colleagues in HR, Risk Management, and the audit team. Integrate strategic planning and execution of safety programs with company-wide strategic objectives and corporate policies/procedures, laws, regulations, and codes. Act as an independent reviewer to ensure compliance, health, and safety within the organization leading investigations and providing guidance to resolve potential risk. Collaborate with industry peers and represent the company at appropriate industry associations. Participate in insurance renewal process. Provide input and feedback on effective use and management of third-party insurance providers. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors/Master's degree required, preferred in Occupational Safety, Health, and/or Environmental (or similar), from an accredited college or university. Minimum of 15 years of relevant work experience with 10 years in a senior leadership safety role position within a large-scale national construction, construction management, or renewables organization. Previous experience with a self-performing workforce Proven track record of developing and implementing large-scale safety programs. Extensive experience handling OSHA investigations and claims Excellent track record of reducing recordable injury and major incident rates. Managed a high-performance team of 20 or more direct and indirect reports with proven experience in training and mentoring EHS staff. Strong understanding of safety risk assessment, risk mitigation and controls. Exudes a highly credible balance of technical leadership and interpersonal skills to exert influence and network at all levels within the organization. Understands data analytics and use of technology to drive performance. Experience as a trusted advisor providing guidance to business leaders focused on continuously improving the execution of objectives across programs and projects. Agile leadership style with the ability to adjust one's approach to fit the situation. A visible leader who takes a collaborative approach with others and comes across as approachable. Will be traveling throughout the US) ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Review all installation methods for conformance to the contract documents. Ensure all materials and equipment delivered to the site conform to the contract documents. Conduct pre-installation meetings with the safety manager and foreman prior to proceeding with new phases of installation to ensure safety and compliance with the contract documents. Make regular site inspections, provide detailed reports noting any deficiencies in the installation and make follow up inspections to ensure corrective work is done. Make all inspection requests and walk with inspector to ensure that all inspections are complete, approved and documented.
