THE RESPONSIBILITIES ⦁ Serve as a senior-level expert in utility distribution and power system engineering. ⦁ Lead design of sub-transmission systems, substations, switching stations, and complex commercial/industrial systems. ⦁ Develop conceptual/detailed engineering packages—including modeling, alternatives, and cost estimates. ⦁ Lead microgrid design including renewable and traditional generation. ⦁ Build high-level power system models (ETAP/SKM/EasyPower). ⦁ Review studies and recommend improvements or protective coordination updates. ⦁ Maintain advanced knowledge of protection and relaying schemes. ⦁ Ensure compliance with current utility codes and standards. ⦁ Support field teams during walk-downs, commissioning, and troubleshooting. ⦁ Analyze faults, loading, and power quality to guide corrective actions. ⦁ Provide mentorship and technical guidance to engineering staff. THE REQUIREMENTS ⦁ Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems emphasis required). ⦁ 12+ years in the utility industry, including 5+ years in leadership or project management. ⦁ Active PE license required. ⦁ Subject matter expertise in system modeling, protection, and analysis. ⦁ Strong experience with MV distribution and substation design. ⦁ Proficiency in ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar tools. ⦁ Experience with cost, schedule, and labor estimating tools (MS Project or similar). ⦁ Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. ⦁ Ability to obtain military base access. ⦁ Valid driver’s license required. Travel: Approximately 25% to project sites.
